A year of blogging can be a rewarding and challenging experience. In the past year, I set myself the goal of writing/posting a new blog post every month, and I'm happy to say that I was able to achieve it. Here's how I did it:
The first step was to come up with a list of potential topics. I spent a few days brainstorming and came up with a list of topics that I thought would be interesting to write about all through the year and put it in my project management application(ClickUp). Putting it in the tool helped to ensure i could set due dates for when each task could be completed and have my reminders automated
Set a schedule and stick to it. One of the keys to consistently blogging is to set a schedule and stick to it. Using the project management tool mentioned above, I found it helpful to create task for writing a blog for a specific month on the board, this helped to ensure i had reminders when my task were close to their due date and when they had reached the due date. It was important to set aside some time each week to work on my blog and i ensured i was not planning for the current month blog in the same month, i planned for future months blog in whatever month i was in. This means my first month of blogging had more work because i had to create content for both that month and the next month whilst researching potential topics for the entire year.
Choose topics that you are passionate about. Writing about something that you are passionate about will make the process more enjoyable and help you stay motivated.
Do your research. Before I began writing each post, I made sure to do thorough research on the topic to ensure that my content was accurate and informative.
Use AI tools to help generate ideas. When I was struggling to come up with new ideas for blog posts, I found it helpful to use AI tools like copy.ai, jasper.ai to generate suggestions. These tools can help you think of new angles and approaches to take with your writing.
Plan out your post. I found it helpful to outline my posts before I started writing. This helped me stay organized and kept my writing on track.
Write in small chunks. Instead of trying to write an entire post in one sitting, I found it helpful to break it up into smaller chunks and write a little bit at a time.
Edit and proofread. Before publishing each post, I made sure to carefully edit and proofread it to ensure that it was free of errors and easy to read.
Overall, writing a new blog post every month has been a challenging but rewarding experience. It has helped me improve my writing skills, learn more about my chosen topic, and connect with my readers. If you're thinking about starting a blog, I highly recommend giving it a try!
If you're thinking about starting a blog, I encourage you to go for it! It's definitely worth the effort.
